- Anthropic made Claude Code easier to use for everyone, regardless of technical background
- Users can access Claude Code on a web browser or phone and assign multiple coding tasks, driving them in real time.
- The tool’s new accessibility opens up advanced coding capabilities to non-developers and solo creators.
Anthropic makes its Claude Code programming tool available and usable by almost anyone with a web browser or smartphone.
No longer limited to endpoints and local environments, you can now delegate multiple coding tasks to Claude Code directly from your claude.ai browser tab.
Being usable on mobile devices enhances this feeling of flexibility. You can use Anthropic’s iOS app to access Claude Code and have new software described in very little time, but not without its share of bugs and broken mechanics.
That’s a remarkable change for a tool like Claude Code, which Anthropic boasts of using internally to write 90% of its own code. The company claims to have contributed to a 67% increase in production per engineer, even as the size of the engineering team doubled.
This is partly because Claude Code is very proactive when receiving instructions. Users can submit new queries while previous ones are running, and modify them before they are completed if it appears that Claude has not fully understood what he has been asked to do.
In some ways, this is the latest chapter in AI’s ongoing efforts to break down barriers between expert tools and casual users.
In another, Claude Code on the Web lets users make programming software mimic the way humans work in disjointed spurts that jump into different contexts. You simply assign the work, Claude does the execution, and you review the results on your schedule.
The Claude Code expansion is something of a culmination of Anthropic’s recent efforts to launch a new line of AI models. Claude Sonnet 4.5 and Claude Haiku 4.5 recently debuted, with agent-based coding being a key part of how Anthropic presents them. The appearance of Claude Code on the web continues Anthropic’s efforts to redefine the beneficiaries of this type of AI model.
Coding for everyone
This change in role may seem shocking to some developers who pride themselves on being able to exercise direct control.
But it’s arguably just another level of automation of certain aspects of programming, going back to the physical movement of relays in building-sized computers, to the much more rapid development of high-level languages, then frameworks, then low-code platforms, and, for the average person, the development of the content management systems used today.
Agentic AI simply pushes the boundaries by autonomously executing more abstract instructions. This certainly does not remove the need for human programmers and designers to create good programs, although facilitating the production of bad programs arguably constitutes an intrinsic argument against their use.
With this in mind, Claude Code aims less to replace developers than to increase them. It handles glue code, boilerplate, and regression testing. In other words, the boring parts.
Anthropic says it’s also a real money maker, with Claude Code on track to generate more than half a billion dollars in annualized revenue, with usage increasing tenfold since it became generally available in May 2025.
Word needs to spread among solo developers and independent teams who once struggled to keep up with code maintenance. Designers who occasionally dabble in front-end edits might finally come up with a side project they’ve been playing with for years.
There are still many limitations. Not all issues can be resolved with an agent. Not all users want to write specifications in natural language. But for a growing number of tasks, the accessibility of Claude Code can make all their programming dreams come true.
