Islamabad:
The Federal Minister of Industries and Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain, informed the National Assembly that the closure of Utility Stores Corporation (USC) was part of a process of progressive restructuring approved by a committee of the firm on right size, aimed at improving efficiency and reducing losses.
In response to a point raised by Aifa Bhutto Zardari on the point of order, he said that in initial outlets, loss intakes were closed in addition to release the personnel from daily wages. However, a separate set has been formulated for contractual and regular employees in order to ensure their financial security, he said.
