Lahore:
Order an increase up to 10 times in traffic fines to improve public security and provide discipline on the roads, the chief minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, announced that the father of any minor driver taken in the province will be held responsible for allowing him to drive.
President of a meeting to examine a proposal to modify the traffic police uniform, she said: “A case will also be recorded and strict measures will be taken against those who lead with damaged or extinguished headlights.”
She deplored: “There is no improvement in the circulation system. Concrete and sustainable measures will have to be taken. I take out personally and examine the situation of traffic on different roads of the city. Effective measures taken before traffic accidents occur are the only success.”
The chief minister said: “A vehicle will be arrested if a chain, etc. is dangerously suspended.”
She added: “A case will be recorded against driving at a wheel or dangerous driving.”
She accepted a proposal to prohibit the parking of loaded trolleys, on the sides of the main roads, in addition to imposing a heavy fine for the use of mobile phones during driving.
She ordered the authorities concerned to remove obstacles in the flow of traffic on Benian roads and other cities.
She also ordered the officials concerned to attach video evidence and photo with the Challans of traffic.
Head Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered the ministry to create five traffic police categories – responsible for the application of laws, traffic regulator, education, license and public service agent.
It has approved a proposal to provide modern patrol vehicles and the latest traffic police. She said the traffic guards issued Challans in front of the camera to ensure transparency.
The chief minister also considered the renovation of 372 points in the province, including 77 in Lahore for traffic.
She also ordered the authorities to install digital road screens on the side of the road for early detection of traffic jams.
Meanwhile, chief minister Maryam Nawaz inaugurated the largest advanced cattle market in the country in Shahpur Kanjran. She visited the model cattle market and examined the facilities.
It was informed in a briefing that the Shahpur Kanjran model cattle market in Lahore will have the ability to keep 25,000 large and 150,000 small animals, where 20 large hangars were built to keep cattle. The market is distributed over an area of 74 acres. Fans were also installed in animal hangars for the first time on the livestock market.
A quarantine center has also been built on the model of models to protect cattle from infectious diseases.
In addition, 20 large residential rooms were built for cattle merchants. The market will also have the installation of a mosque, toilets, a veterinary clinic, a BUCC store and an automatic window.
A truck loading and unloading center has been established for easy transport of cattle. There is also a spacious parking lot, a police station and a large area open to the model cattle market.
An auction bay as well as a modern slaughterhouse have also been established on the market.
The second largest Punjab cattle market will be built in Jhang.
The chief minister also published a statement, expressing sorrow concerning loss of lives due to toxic gas in a stationery in Ferozewala. She expressed sympathies and condolences to the families of the deceased and ordered the authorities concerned to provide the best medical facilities to workers who have suffered injuries in the incident, while looking for a report in this regard.
It ordered strict implementation of professional security protocols in factories and industrial areas.
