The chief minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, inaugurated the first entirely electric bus service in the province in Lahore, the provincial capital. The new fleet consists of buses with a capacity of 30 seats and the capacity to transport 80 passengers.
Electric buses are equipped with modern equipment, including GPS follow-up, Wi-Fi, USB ports and ramps for disabled people.
In order to improve safety, non -slip floor coverings have been installed and cameras are placed to prevent harassment.
To guarantee the efficiency, nine specialized load terminals have been installed and each bus can cover a distance of 250 kilometers in full load.
A portfolio and a digital card system will also be introduced to facilitate travel without cash. The electric bus service will initially operate on a 21 km route from the station in Green Town.
In mid-February, the service will start, with buses running every 9 minutes and 42 modern shelters to install. The service should respond to 17,000 passengers per day.
The chief minister also examined the installation plans for solar fans, water coolers and surveillance cameras in the bus stations and has focused on special training for 70 bus drivers.
In addition, discussions have taken place on the introduction of electric taxis in Punjab.
