Punjab Minister-in-Chief, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, inaugurated on Tuesday overview of Nawaz Sharif on Adiala Road and GPO underpass on Mall Road in Rawalpindi, marking the completion of two major infrastructure projects aimed at improving traffic in the city.
During the inauguration ceremony, CM Maryam announced its intention to launch drinking water projects through Punjab, including southern Punjab and the Potohar region. She highlighted the rapid development rate, noting that the roads left neglected for 30 years are now under construction in record time.
The two mega projects, completed at a cost of 8.77 billion rupees, were opened to traffic after the inauguration. The overview of Nawaz Sharif connects Katchehry Chowk to GT Road, the Ronse Ring Road and Chakri Interchange, considerably reducing the journey time of more than an hour and saves shuttles of the millions of fuels. Service roads have also been built on both sides of the overview, covering two kilometers.
The GPO underground passage, located on Mall Road, is part of a corridor without signaling from GPO Chowk to TM Chowk and will facilitate more than 200,000 vehicles per day. The project includes a modern intelligent signal system and a lower pedestrian crossing near AFIC for the convenience of the public. The underground passage also improves connectivity to Cachemir Road and the National Highway (N-5), benefiting to patients traveling in the MHH, MH and AFIC hospitals.
Residents warmly welcomed the chief minister with flower petals and slogans during his visit. CM Maryam recognized the support and briefings provided by the provincial Minister of Communication and Works Malik Sohaib Bharth and Secretary Sohail Ashraf. She shared that 51 of the 67 road development projects in Rawalpindi, covering 607 km, have already been completed.
Speaking during the ceremony, CM Maryam said that these projects made “game changes” for the inhabitants of Rawalpindi and reaffirmed his commitment to public well-being thanks to the improvement of infrastructure. She also announced the reshaping of Katchehry Road and Mall Road.
The chief minister has revealed his intention to pose new pipelines for drinking water and to solve the problem of the supply of Water from Murrier. She also announced the preparation of a major project for the construction and expansion of Nullah Leh and is committed to completing the Ronse Road Road Road in record time.
CM Maryam said that the re -evamping of all Rawalpindi schools was underway and was being completed. She personally monitors the city’s embellishment projects and underlined the need for visible improvements to the borders of Punjab, stressing the difference in cleanliness and infrastructure when entering the neighboring regions.
As part of the “Punjab clean project”, she said that sanitation efforts are reinforced throughout the province. More than 12,000 kilometers of roads have been built or repaired, and 1,250 basic health units were reorganized in mini hospitals.
Underpass Road Mall Road passages altered
Construction and embellishment work on the two lower passages along Saddar Mall Road have been completed.
Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has now launched the horticultural phase, including planting central medians, green belts and metro pillars along Murree Road.
After the completion of carpet and painting at TM Chowk and Mall Plaza Chowk Underpasses, Mall Road now offers a unique picturesque view. The chief minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, should inaugurate the project soon.
