Colonel General Karim Valiyev, the first defense vice-minister and chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijani army, called the chief of staff of the army (COAS), Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, reported Radio Pakistan on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the two parties discussed questions of mutual interest, with a particular emphasis on the evolution of the global and regional security environment. The two leaders expressed a common commitment to strengthen defense cooperation and promote joint efforts to promote regional peace and stability.
The Marshal of Field Munnir reaffirmed the fraternal links of Pakistan with Azerbaijan and reiterated the resolution to further strengthen bilateral military and diplomatic relations.
He congratulated the visiting dignitary for the successful conclusion of the peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, considering it as a positive development for the region.

Colonel General Valiyev welcomed the professionalism of the armed forces of Pakistan and recognized its role in recent operations, notably Marka-E-Haq and operation Bunyanum Marsoos. He also extended congratulations on the independence day of Pakistan and related celebrations.
The COAS expressed its gratitude to Azerbaijan for its support during national operations and recognized the participation of the Azerbaijani contingent during the ceremony of the independence day of Pakistan.
In a notable gesture, Colonel General Valiyev conferred the Marshal with the patriotic war, one of the highest military honors in Azerbaijan, on behalf of President Ilham Aliyev. The price has recognized the contributions of COAS to strengthen military cooperation in Pakistan-Azerbaijan.
Earlier, the visiting dignitary received an honorary guard in GHQ and filed a floral crown in Yadgar-e-Shuhada to pay tribute to the Martyrs of Pakistan.
President Zardari meets the envoy in Azerbaijani
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to further strengthen his fraternal relations with Azerbaijan during a meeting with Ambassador Khazar Farhadov in Aiwan-E-Sadr.
The president described Azerbaijan as a key partner and highlighted the potential of increased cooperation in trade, economy and regional connectivity. He noted that the deepening of economic ties and contacts of people to the person would contribute to the prosperity of the two nations.

Zardari congratulated the ambassador of the historic peace agreement with Armenia and prolonged the congratulations to President Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijan people. He described the agreement one step towards sustainable peace and regional stability.
The president welcomed the initiation of direct air links between the two countries, appealing to it important development for trade, tourism and bilateral commitment. He also thanked Azerbaijan for his unshakable support on the issue of Jammu-et-Cachemire occupied by Indian, in particular within the framework of the Ocic contact group.
