The chief of staff of the army (COAS), General Syed Asim Munnir, stressed that Pakistan needs to strengthen its governance and to solidify as a “hard state”, emphasizing the dangers of continuing in a “sweet” approach which sacrifices precious lives. He asked how long the governance gaps would be filled by the blood of the armed forces of Pakistan and his martyrs.

On Tuesday, in his speech to the Parliamentary Commission for National Security, General Munir stressed that the country’s security should always be deprived of any political agenda, movement or personality, Express News reported.

He stressed that national stability can only be achieved when all the elements of national power work together in harmony, stressing that it was not only a struggle for the present but for the survival of future generations.

In addition, General Munnir called on religious scholars to expose the distorted interpretations of Islam distributed by extremists, urging them to clarify the real teachings of Islam and to counter harmful ideologies propagated by groups like Khawarij.

Speaking of national security, the COAS reiterated that the security of Pakistan is essential. “If this country exists, it is because of us,” he said, stressing the importance of prioritizing national security on political or personal interests.

General Munnir called for a unified position, urging all stakeholders to adopt a single story in the interest of the defense of Pakistan, by putting aside their individual or political gains.

He also sent a strong message to those who believe that they can weaken Pakistan by supporting terrorists, declaring: “Today, they will understand that we are defeating them not only but also all their facilitators.”

The army chief reassured the unshakable nation of the military, expressing confidence that with the confidence in Allah, Pakistan will finally succeed in ensuring its future.
