Rawalpindi: The chief of staff of the army (COAS) Asim Munnir paid a rich tribute to the martyrs of the country on Thursday for having paid the ultimate sacrifice for the earth.

“Shuhada and the Ghazis are our sustainable pride. Their honor and reverence are a sacred confidence in each Pakistanis,” said Coas Gen Munir by speaking during an investment ceremony held at the general seat of Rawalpindi (GHQ).

During the ceremony, which attended a large number of senior military officials and families of the Prix Recipients, the head of the army gave honors to the officers and soldiers of the Pakistani army in recognition of their exceptional value in the operations and services distinguished to the nation.

The conferred decorations included Sitara-E-Imtiaz (military) and Tamgha-e-Basat. The medals awarded posthumously were received with honor by the families of the Shuhada.

Louvant the inflexible determination of the Pakistani army and law enforcement agencies (LEA), the COAS appreciated their incessant efforts to thwart multiple terrorist threats and eliminate terrorist agents of great value during the operations to fight against terrorism.

The army’s remarks come while the country was in shock under an alarming increase in terrorist attacks, with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balutchistan – which both share a border with neighboring Afghanistan – faced with the weight of incidents.

KP and Balutchistan, in accordance with the report of the Center for Research and Security Studies (CSS), remain epicenters of violence, representing 98% of all deaths, with attacks that push more daring and evolving activist tactics, including the unprecedented diversion of the Jaffar Express. The projections warn against more than 3,600 deaths by the end of the year if the current trends persist, potentially making 2025 one of the deadliest years in Pakistan.

During the first quarter of 2025, Pakistan experienced 897 deaths related to violence and 542 injuries among civilians, security staff and outlaws. The statement of the victims, totaling 1,439, came from 354 incidents of violence, including terrorist attacks and counter-terrorist operations. Compared to Q4 2024, where 1028 deaths were recorded, these figures mark a drop of almost 13% of overall violence.

Speaking during an agreement for the Pakistani abroad earlier this week, the COAS, while addressing the security situation, had declared that even 10 generations of terrorists could not harm Balutchistan or Pakistan.

Against 495 outlaws eliminated, civilians and security personnel underwent 402 deaths, which represents almost 19% less losses compared to outlaws. Their combined losses represented almost 45% of all deaths compared to outlaws, representing more than 55% of the total recorded this quarter.
