Coas promises a rehabilitation of minority religious sites in areas struck by floods

The chief of staff of the army (COAS), Marshal Syed Asim Munir, assured that all the minority religious sites damaged during recent floods, including Darbar Sahib Kartarpur, will be restored in their original state, reported Radio Pakistan on Friday.

During his visit to the districts struck by the floods of Punjab, notably Sialkot, Shakargarh, Narowal and Kartarpur, the chief of the army met members of the Sikh community.

He said it was the responsibility of the State and its institutions to protect the religious sites of minorities, reaffirming that Pakistan “would leave no stone not returned” to fulfill this duty.

The Sikh community has expressed its gratitude to the army chief for help and rehabilitation support which is provided by the civil administration and the military during calamity. The Marshal of Field Munnir also carried out an air investigation on Darbar Sahib Kartarpur to assess the damage caused by the floods.

The purpose of the visit was to examine the situation of the floods, to supervise rescue and rescue operations and to assess the preparations for the next rainy period. He was informed of the dominant conditions and the current measures to minimize losses.

Appreciating the efforts of the civil administration and the troops, the Coas welcomed their coordinated and tireless work to save lives and relieve families affected by the floods.

While interacting with the soldiers, he congratulated their high morale, their operational preparation and their unshakable commitment to serve the nation in difficult circumstances.
