Coas reaffirms defense, security cooperation during the visit to China

Islamabad:

The marshal of the army chief (COAS), Asim Munir, undertook an official high -level visit to the People’s Republic of China, where he held a series of meetings with Chinese political and military leaders to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two fraterrel nations, the army said in a statement.

According to Public Inter-Services Relations (ISPR), the COAS called His Excellency Han Zheng, vice-president of the People’s Republic of China, and His Excellency Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of China.

During these commitments, questions of mutual interest were discussed, in particular the evolving regional and global security environment, the current connectivity initiatives in the Chinese-Pakistani Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the coordinated approaches of emerging geopolitical challenges.

“The two parties expressed their satisfaction with the depth of bilateral commitment and reiterated their common commitment to sovereign equality, multilateral cooperation and long -term regional stability,” said the ISPR.

Chinese management has recognized the professionalism of the armed forces of Pakistan, describing them as a cornerstone of resilience and a vital contributor to peace and stability in South Asia, added the ISPR.

On the military side, Coas Gen Munir has held detailed meetings with General Zhang Youxia, vice-president of the Central Military Commission (CMC); General Chen Hui, army political commissioner PLA; and Lieutenant-General Cai Zhai Jun, chief of staff of the army PLA.

Military discussions focused on strengthening defense and security cooperation, including collaboration against terrorism, joint training and exercises, modernization of defense and improved institutional links.

“The two parties highlighted the importance of operational interoperability and strategic coordination to effectively counter hybrid and transnational threats,” said the ISPR.

The Chinese military management expressed confidence in the force of the bilateral defense relationship and recognized the pivotal role of Pakistan in the promotion of regional peace and stability, the statement added.

Coas Gen Munnir has made an assessment of the constant support of China and reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to further extend military cooperation to military in all areas.

Upon his arrival at the army ALP headquarters, the COAS received an honorary guard, reflecting long -standing camaraderie and the deeply rooted military ties between the armed forces of Pakistan and China, noted the declaration.

“The visit reflects the growing depth of politico-military links between the two fraternal nations and underlines their shared determination to advance regional security through a dialogue and high-level commitments,” concluded the ISPR.
