Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir on Tuesday said India-backed proxies Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij were propagating anti-people and anti-development agendas in Balochistan with the malicious intention of perpetrating violence.

“All necessary measures are being taken to pursue these terrorists and rid the province of this menace,” the Marshal said while interacting with the participants of the 17th Balochistan National Workshop at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Tuesday.

During his speech, COAS Munir said that Balochistan is the pride of Pakistan, blessed with a vibrant, resilient and patriotic people who constitute its true wealth.

He highlighted the development initiatives of the federal and provincial governments aimed at improving the socio-economic landscape of the province through a people-centric approach, emphasizing the need to realize its immense economic potential.

Recognizing the constructive role of civil society, particularly in engaging and empowering youth, he highlighted its pivotal role in ensuring sustainable development and countering vested political agendas for the long-term prosperity of Balochistan.

The Marshal reiterated that while Pakistan seeks regional peace and stability, any violation of its territorial integrity, direct or indirect, would invite a strong and decisive response to safeguard the lives and well-being of its citizens.

The workshop concluded with a candid and interactive question and answer session between the Army Chief and the participants.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan – both of which share a porous border with neighboring Afghanistan – have been worst hit by terrorist incidents, accounting for more than 96% of the total violence across the country.

Balochistan, according to a report released by the Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS), witnessed at least 25 per cent of the total deaths (230) and incidents (85) linked to violence.

During his latest visit to Balochistan, Field Marshal Munir highlighted the importance of joint civil and military efforts to address the challenges faced by the people.
