Coas says no letter received from anyone

Islamabad:

The chief of staff of the army (COAS), General Syed Asim Munnir, categorically declared on Thursday that he had not received a letter either, and he would not read it if he had one , telling the media that he would rather transmit such a letter to the Prime Minister.

While speaking informally to journalists during an event, the army chief said that the discourse of the letter was only a ploy. Although he did not name anyone, his speech came in the context of the statements of the PTI leader according to which the founder of the party, Imran Khan, wrote two letters to the chief of the army, while he was writing also a third letter.

“I have not received any letter from anyone. Even if I receive a letter, I will not read it. If I will receive a letter, I will send it to the Prime Minister,” said Gen Asim Munnir. “Any speech on letters is just a ploy,” he added.

PTI lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, said on Wednesday that Imran had shared with the management of the PTI the content of his third open letter to the chief of the army, in which he would raise concerns concerning the presumed rigging during the general elections from last year.

He said the letter would cover six main points and addresses issues such as the need for deep structural reforms, damage caused to democracy by government policies and other critical issues.

Previously, the management of the PTI had confirmed that Imran had written two letters, addressed to the chief of the army. Earlier, this week, an open letter to the chief of the army was published on Imran’s account on the microblogging website of X. In letters, he expressed his concerns about the current situation in the country .

However, in his informal speech, the army chief stressed that Pakistan was forward “in a very good way” and that “development takes place” everywhere. “Pakistan is going forward and Pakistan must go ahead,” he said.

Sources said it was clear to the conversation of the army chief that the government and the military were on the same wavelength, adding that the army chief had expressed his confidence in the government by His brief informal cat with the media.
