The double major champion Collin Morikawa had a controversial conversation with a journalist at a press conference before the Rocket Classic on Wednesday.

Morikawa, 28, challenged a quote that the golfweek journalist Adam Schupak put in his history on the recent change of caddy of Morikawa.

Schupak wrote a story covering the change of caddy of Morikawa and said that it was not clear that Morikawa would have been permanently in the future. Schupak included this quote from Morikawa in history.

“Ask me everything you want during my press conference later. I am with my pro-Am partners now”, was the quote that Schupak used in Morikawa in its history.

When Schupak asked Morikawa at the press conference on whom Will Caddy him in British Open, the golfer used the question to challenge the use by Schupak of his quote in history.

“I don’t do it. And I read your article that you wrote. Listen, I’m not here to tell people how to do their jobs, but I don’t understand why you would do me because you turn off my quote that I played with pro-Am partners before,” said Morikawa.

“These guys pay a lot of money, they are very important for the community, they are very important for the classic rockets, and so that you can take out a quote like that to drop me off and say:” Hey, wait two and a half hours “. I mean, you called me on the first tee, do you know?”

“I’m not going to tell you how to do your job; you can write what you want. It’s America. But don’t ask me like that because it’s half past two, Adam.”

Schupak said he was thinking that he granted Morikawa a credit because he noted that Morikawa was focused on his pro-Am partners. However, Morikawa told Schupak that it was not how he read him.

“Okay, we can all read it very differently. It’s not how I read it,” said Morikawa.

“But I tell you, I think there is a perspective where people can read it like that. So, I’m just going to leave that. We knew I was going to have media in two and a half hours.

After Morikawa commented on the press conference, Schupak removed the original citation of Morikawa and updated history with a new quote.

This is not the first time that Morikawa has lowered feathers with the media this season, because her comments to the Masters have made waves.

Morikawa is currently with regard to 35th place at the Rocket Classic at the Detroit Golf Club as a peer of three cents for the day. When writing these lines, Min Woo Lee directed the tournament after pulling nine under the peer in the first round.
