The permanent committee of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa assembly n ° 38 on cattle, fishing and cooperatives underlined the need to establish a robust mechanism to monitor fishing activities and ensure the transparency of the award of contracts.
A committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of the MPA Sher Ali Afridi, which arbab Muhammad Usman Khan, Ikram Ullah Ghazi, Malik Adeel Iqbal and Abdul Mumin. The committee has largely discussed questions relating to illegal fishing and unauthorized fish farming in the KP.
The committee highlighted the need for strong legal measures to limit these illegal activities.
Members have called for a complete strategy to guarantee appropriate regulation, monitoring and balance in fishing operations, as well as a review of existing contracts if necessary.
The meeting asked for a report on the situation in Tarbela and the Khanpur dams for examination at the next session.
In addition, the meeting has directed that the data of the last five years concerning publications and transfers of the Fisheries Department are presented at the next hearing.
