Pakistan meteorological authorities have issued heat waves for most regions of the country, the temperatures planned to hover well over average over the next four to five days.

According to Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), daytime temperatures will remain 5 to 7 ° C above seasonal averages in the northern and center regions-including Islamabad, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Cashmire and Gilgit-Baltistan-From May 15 to 19.

In the southern half of the country, including Sindh, southern Punjab and Balutchistan, the heat wave should last until May 20 on May 20, with temperatures likely to remain 4 to 6 ° C above normal.

The PMD said that the conditions are drawn by persistent continental air and a high pressure system in development in the upper atmosphere, entering large parts of the country from Thursday.

“A warm and dry weather is expected in most regions, with extremely high temperatures in the plains,” said Usama Ali Zuberi forecasting agent.

In the past 24 hours, very hot conditions have been observed in plain areas. The highest temperatures were recorded in Dadu (48 ° C), Jacobabad (47 ° C) and several cities, striking 45 ° C – including Sibbi, Turbat, Sukkur, Rohri and Rahim Yar Khan.

Forecasts for the main cities in the south show no immediate relief. Dadu should peak between 47 and 51 ° C in the next three days, while Nawabshah, Mithi and Mohenjo-Daro will probably hover between 42 and 48 ° C. Karachi, with higher humidity, should reach up to 40 ° C.

Residents were advised to limit outdoor activities, stay hydrated and take precautions against heat stroke.
