“The current constitutional framework, however, presents an important obstacle to democratic participation. The existing regulation requires that a candidate must obtain appointments of twenty members of the ireachtas or four county councils to be eligible for the ballot. This system, while being intended to ensure a degree of political influence among the candidates, inadvertently restricted the direct voice of the Irish electorate.

“In light of this, I propose a petition to recommend a modification of the appointment process to allow my name to be included on the ballot. I maintain that the citizens of Ireland, at home and abroad, should have the endless right to determine the candidates who appear on the presidential election. Process, thus allowing Ireland residents to shape their own future.”

McGregor’s initial announcement concerning the candidacy for the presidency came only a few days after meeting President Donald Trump earlier this year.

The former champion opposed a bill concerning the EU migration pact.

“Ireland must fully implement the EU migration pact by June 12, 2026. Thus, by June 12, 2026, several laws must be adopted by the two chambers of the ireachtas, then signed by the president … which will resist the government and will oppose this bill? … I will do it!” McGregor wrote in March.

“It is the people of Ireland! Always! It is a real democracy! .. It is the future of Ireland with me as president. All the citizens of Ireland to have a voice and a choice on their future! May God bless our people. Vote McGregor and make your voice heard!”

McGregor criticized the Irish White House government in order to raise awareness of “problems with which the inhabitants of Ireland” are confronted with the residents of Ireland “.
