- The game also relies more on melee and supernatural abilities compared to the first game.
Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that Resonant control will look at the melee action compared to the first game, but that it’s “not soulful”.
A new gameplay trailer for the Control The sequel debuted at last month’s Sony State of Play, featuring protagonist Dylan Faden wielding all manner of weapons to defeat enemies in the supernaturally distorted Manhattan.
Now, new details have emerged thanks to press previews, and according to IGN, the melee combat is faster than its predecessor and comparable to the style of The devil may cry And Bayonetta.
You will face many enemies in Resonant control using Dylan’s primary shapeshifting melee weapon, the Aberrant, which can take on many other forms, including hammer, blades, scythe, and fists.
This is a big change from ControlThe main gun of the service weapon and will involve getting close to enemies. But according to lead gameplay designer Sergey Mohov, Resonant it’s not like action games like Ancient Ring Or Dark souls.
“It’s not a soul,” Mohov said. “This is a dynamic, action-oriented action game with an aggressive playstyle. The player is truly in control and not. [simply] react. The main driving force behind the fight is you. »
Remedy described the game as an action role-playing game (RPG) with no inventory management, but insists that “it’s not a survival game, it’s an action game”, according to creative director Mikael Kasurinen.
In another PlayStation Blog post, Communications Manager Miika Huttunen provided more details on Resonant“The action of, saying: “Developing the player’s expression in combat was central to our design.”
Huttunen said the game’s action “leans more on melee and supernatural synergy”, meaning players will need to use both Aberrant and Dylan skills that can be unlocked in the talent tree.
“He [The Aberrant] changes between distinct primary and secondary forms, as well as powerful Combo Enders, allowing you to tailor speed, range, and combat role within a single build,” Huttunen said.
In Resonant controlmelee attacks also restore Dylan’s combat ability resource, abilities can stun enemies to open them up for executions, and the latter can temporarily increase melee damage.
Different playstyles are also fully supported, such as a close-range heavy build or a more tactical setup using summons like Cast Turrets; it’s up to the player.
“The more you engage in close-range pressure, the more tools you get to maintain control. It’s a loop designed to reward decisiveness and fluidity,” the developer explained.
Resonant control is expected to launch this year on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.
