Two California high schools will leave Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) on the State’s decision to ban transgender athletes from participating in sports for girls.
The secondary schools of Truckee and North Tahoe were the two schools that were to leave the Athletics Association, the Reno Gazette Journal reported on Friday. The two schools are near the California-Nevada border.

Truckee’s school spokesperson Amber Burke told the newspaper that this decision had been made because secondary schools were to follow California’s laws about sex discrimination.
“We are a school district of California, and we must therefore join the California state law,” said Burke. “It is linked to the recent changes in NIAA policy concerning the eligibility for the student-with biological sex. This is in conflict with the laws of California.”
The Truckee Tahoe United School District has sent a letter to the parents, claiming that the rules of Nevada “enter directly with California laws protecting identity and gender expression, including AB 1955, which guarantees the rights of private life students and protects them against discrimination,” according to the Reno Gazette Journal.
NIAA voted in April to adopt a new gender eligibility policy that prohibits trans -sports athletes for girls. Only biological women can compete with state girls.
The change has marked a reversal of the previous policy of the State which allowed the Trans athletes to compete in the sports of girls and women, which has led to multiple controversial incidents of the latter in recent years.

Nevada changed its transhlete policies in April.

The two schools will move to California Interscholastic Federation. The state planned to maintain its eligibility policy between the sexes in order to allow biological men to compete with women in sports, which makes him nose in the decree of President Donald Trump.
A bipartite survey of the Policy Institute of California published in April revealed that the majority of California residents oppose organic athletes who participate in female sports.
California governor Gavin Newsom admitted that the trans athletes participating in girls’ sports are “deeply unfair” during an episode of his podcast last month, but defended allowing him to get out of empathy for the transgender population.
“The Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association has been informed that Tahoe-Truckee Unified School District is looking to withdraw from Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association,” said NIAA executive director Tim Jackson, via Las Vegas Review-Journal. “We work with the district to guide them throughout the withdrawal process, ensuring a fluid and collaborative transition. Throughout this process, NIAA remains determined to support all member schools and students-athletes.”

“As we go forward, we will prioritize the solidification of sporting hours for the next fall season and maintain clear and continuous communication with all stakeholders to minimize disturbances and ensure the clarity of all those involved. We appreciate the long-standing partnership with the unified school district of Tahoe-Truckee and we are devoted to support their transition while retaining unified interests of all our member schools. “
