- Co-op experiences disruptions following a cyber attack
- Reports suggest that hackers can still have access to systems
- This follows an equally destructive attack against other M&S retailers
The British cooperative retail sales giant is still experiencing serious disturbances of a cyber attack, with certain stores incapable of restoring selected products thanks to critical logistics systems which are kept offline in the middle of fears that pirates would still not have access to the company’s networks, The record Reports.
Coop has spent the last two weeks to postpone attackers by closing the computer systems – and there has been a “significant disturbance” for operations accordingly. The CEO CEO confirmed that a “limited quantity of customer data” was accessible by criminals and that the organization strives to fully understand the impact of the attack.
“As previously indicated, we have established that cybercriminals have been able to access a limited amount of data data. This is obviously extremely painful for our colleagues and our members, and I am really sorry that it happened. We recognize the importance of data protection and take our obligations towards you and our regulators seriously, in particular as an organization belonging to a member, “she confirmed.
Persistent pirates
Deliveries of large co-op deposits would have been much less than 20% of their normal capacity, describing the serious disturbances that these attacks can bring.
“All our stores are open and exchanging and we now make deliveries to all our stores, flowing in an increased level of fresh, refrigerated and frozen products alongside the essential elements of the closet,” confirmed a disc spokesman.
“Some of our stores may not have all their usual products available and we are sorry if this is the case for our members and our customers in their local store. We work 24 hours a day to reduce disturbances and are happy [to] have resumed stock delivery to our shelves, ”they added.
The nature of the attack has not yet been revealed, although it is next to a similar incident for another retailer, M&S, which has undergone a failure which is probably linked to dispersion ransomware.
