Rawalpindi:
An assistant sub-asspector was suspended for omitting to take action on a complaint from citizens before an open court held by the Rawalpindi CPO. Khalid Hamdani held an open court (Khuli Kachehri) in the Circle of New Town, where he suspended Asi Shehzad Ahmed of the New Town police station for having omitted to take action on the complaint of a citizen and visit the offices again and again.
During the open hearing, which was held for the citizens of the new city and the jurisdictions of the Sadiqabad police stations, CPO Khalid Hamdani listened to various complaints and issued a certain number of orders to be implemented by the police. In particular, he ordered ministerial action against Asi Shehzad Ahmed from the New Town police station.
Among other things, he tackled the problem of increased crime by declaring that several criminal gangs have been traced, but street crime remains a challenge that they will soon overcome. He stressed that drug traffickers are also on the police radar and have sworn that the police would not rest until the drug threat is eradicated.
The use of microphones and speakers was limited during the audience. Only the CPO Rawalpindi, the officers on stage, and the complainants presenting their cases could agree. This unusual arrangement surprised the participants. The open court had been organized in a wedding hall and therefore posed many problems to the participants who try to make their complaints heard.
Only those sitting near the CPO on stage could present their complaints, while others could not hear what was discussed. Some participants pointed out that an open court should be fully accessible to everyone so that all complaints and their resolutions can be heard openly. They suggested that if privacy was a concern for some people, microphones and speakers could have been deactivated for specific cases instead of restricting them completely.
Many citizens, including women and families, appeared in the open court. High police officials, including SP, Sardar Babar Mumtaz, SP Rawal, DSP New Town Abid Khan, stations and other police officers concerned were present at the hearing.
At the start of the session, the CPO Hamdani addressed participants, highlighting the significant efforts to limit crimes such as theft and theft of vehicles in Rawalpindi. However, he recognized that more work is necessary to combat street crime.
He mentioned that the police stations in New Town and Sadiqabad are located in the heart of the city, and he had appointed merit -based links to effectively serve the public. He also underlined police efforts against drug trafficking in areas like Shakrial, Pandora and Double Road, stressing that the fight against drugs will continue until complete eradication.
He also noted the improvements that have been made to the police stations, in particular thanks to the creation of offices before, but highlighted the need for new improvements. He assured that the highest resources had been allocated to the police stations in New Town and Sadiqabad, leaving no room for shortcomings.
During the open court, CPO Rawalpindi personally listened to individual complaints and ordered the officers concerned to take immediate measures. A significant number of women also presented their problems.
On a complaint of a citizen concerning inaction on his request, the CPO Hamdani immediately suspended Asi Shehzad of the New Town police station and ordered the departmental procedure against him.
