Pakistan Minister of Information, Atta Tarar, said that the country had exceeded the “misfortunes” of previous leaders, referring to the former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his relatives.
Speaking in Lahore, Tarar criticized the former PTI government, declaring that a previous Prime Minister had been sentenced in a case involving the sale of state donations.
“A Prime Minister sold expensive gifts, while current leadership is working with transparency,” he said.
The Minister added that the government has committed to carrying out its promises to the public, while its rivals are faced with the consequences of their past actions.
In response, PTI spokesperson Sheikh Waqas rejected Tarar’s remarks, saying that the 190 million pound affair did not concern corruption but the “auction of justice”.
He accused the government of exploiting the legal affairs of propaganda.
“If they were shame, they would not use the case to mislead the public. Whenever these people are in power, the country faces poverty and hunger, “said Waqas.
The 190 million pound affair remains a point of discord between the government in power and the PTI, the two parties accuse each other of political victimization.
PTI moves to the mode of agitation, provides protests after missed discussions with the government
Previously, the secretary general of Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI), Salman Akram Raja, announced that the “system” would soon realize that he could not go ahead without the party founded by Imran Khan.
His comments came a day after PTI rejected the offer of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to take up the talks in a standstill, leading to speculation on political instability in the coming days.
PTI, which now moves to the “agitation mode”, reported plans to organize demonstrations at the district level on an alleged rigging in the general elections of last year.
PTI Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa president Junaid Akbar also mentioned a potential demonstration in Islamabad D-CHOWK.
He previously declared that PTI’s desire for dialogue was misinterpreted as a weakness and revealed that the party planned to reorganize its leadership by putting aside moderate personalities in favor of the mirrors.
