After a season dominated by cheating twists, walkouts and the chaos of “alternate matches”, Married at First Sight Australia is heading into its final week – and if the latest episodes are to be believed, not every couple will survive. It’s going to be brutal. And awesome.
The Final Dinner airs Monday, April 6followed by perpetual vows on April 7 – where the remaining couples must decide whether to stay together or move away for good.
Here’s what to expect and why it’s going to be brutal to watch…
Who makes it to the final – and who doesn’t?
Before the MAFS final, five couples are always technically in experience…
Wallflower Bec Zacharia and superboy Danny Hewitt, Alissa Fay and David Momoh, geek.
Rachel Gilmore and Steven Danyluk.
Fan favorites Stella Mickunaite and Filip Gregov.
The volatile couple of Gia Fleur and Scott McCristal, the “group chat saber”.
But in a major twistGia and Scott’s relationship implodes before final vows, after weeks of tension sparked by the controversial ‘alternative matches’ task – which saw participants meet potential new partners and later watch footage of their spouse’s behavior, Temptation Island-style (here’s how to watch the new Spanish version, another must-have for reality TV fans).
Their final brutal date would of course end in disaster, with Gia leaving her wedding ring in their apartment – symbolic of a very public outing.
But is it Really the end of the road? Or will Gia want to go into hiding to save face before the final vows… I think we can all guess.
The final dinner that changes everything
April 6 Final dinner should be one of the most explosive in MAFS Australia history.
Recent episodes have already seen the usual shouting matches, wine throwing, bitchy text message accusations, and even a tantrum from Scott after seeing Gia flirting with another match – a moment that shocked viewers and sparked widespread backlash among the bride and groom.
As all the couples return for one last group showdown before final vows on April 7, these unresolved feuds will explode – and that’s before launching the bullying accusations involving Brook, Stella and Alissa.
Perpetual vows – and blind spots galore
I’ve watched every episode of this season and I give it an 8.5/10 (where 10 would be the absolutely mind-blowing cheating scandals of season 11). The ongoing blood feud between Gia and Bec in S13 moved things along nicely, but the final vows are where the real heartbreak lands.
Insiders on social media claim that only two couples will enter the “real world” – and one of the most touching moments comes from Bec and Danny. We choose to stay… only to be rejected by the other to the altar. Again: brutal.
Meanwhile, Stella and Filip appear to be the strongest before the finale, even considering moving in together after the experience – a rare achievement in an otherwise turbulent season. If you believe the MAFS hype.
Alissa and David, along with Rachel and Steven, remain less than confident—that is, on the rocks—after the failure of the honesty challenge and the lingering jealousy triggered by the partner-swapping madness.
Yes, this finale might be the most brutal yet
Unlike previous years, production condensed Final Vows into a single episode – a sign of how many of Season 13’s relationships have already collapsed before the finish line.
Sure, MAFS Australia still delivers some of the best performative “showmances” in the reality game – I know, I sat through Lucinda and Tim’s set – but this season has a high attrition rate.
If you can stomach the latest insults from April 6 and 7, expect tears, shocking rejections — and at least one decision that will divide fans long after the credits roll.
Oh, and just when we thought it was all over for another year, there are the post-show specials promising “never-before-seen footage”, cast showdowns and the usual “look what you missed” posturing.
Whatever happens in the finale, MAFS Australia won’t be stopping at the altar – and what’s not to love about that?
