Even a slight infection COVID-19 can promote the obstructed arteries, in turn increase the risk of heart attack in some people, indicates a new study.

The infection of the COVVI-19 virus is associated with the rapid growth of the plate in the arteries which are an integral part of the supply of blood to the heart muscle, also called coronary arteries, wrote researchers in a new study published in the journal ,, Radiology.

To make things worse, the researchers found the plaque in the arteries of those whose COVVI-19 was not even serious enough to require hospitalization.

Researchers also believe that inflammation that accompanies infectious respiratory disease is probably the reason for the growth of the arterial plate.

“Inflammation after COVVI-19 can lead to continuous growth of plaque, in particular high-risk and unlisted plates,” said Cardiology Director of Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University and Senior Researcher University , Dr. Junbo Ge.

“It is crucial to anticipate a heavier cardiovascular patient charge in the future, because most infected individuals are recovering from an acute SAR-COV-2 infection,” added GE.

“Patients with Sars-Cov-2 infection present an increased risk of myocardial infarction, acute coronary syndrome and stroke up to a year,” said GE.
