During his first interrogation, the suspect admits to having orchestrated at least nine major terrorist operations
BANNU:
In a significant breakthrough in counter-terrorism efforts in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Bannu region has arrested a highly wanted terrorist commander during an intelligence operation at People’s Bazaar, Bannu.
The suspect, identified as Osama, originally from Bannu, is known by the organizational aliases “Danial” and “Baghi”. Authorities describe him as an active commander of the newly formed militant group “Ittihad al-Mujahideen Pakistan” (IMP), created through collaboration between Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and another group called TTG.
During the first interrogation, Osama confessed to orchestrating at least nine major terrorist operations. These include the December 2025 attack on Deputy Commissioner Miran Shah Shah Wali Khan, in which the official was targeted, his vehicle was set on fire and he was killed. The arrested activist also admitted his involvement in the abduction and brutal murder of former Bannu SHO Abid Wazir.
Other revelations link him to the kidnappings and subsequent killings of three prominent leaders of the Lakki Marwat Peace Committee, Ataullah, Farmanullah and Waliullah, who were working for public welfare and regional peace. Osama confessed to kidnapping two members of the Frontier Corps (FC) and police officers, one member of whom is believed to remain in custody.
Other confessions include his role in the murder of polio police officer Malik Ishaq and his security guard, as well as the reconnaissance of sensitive institutions and the covert provision of photographs and information on police personnel to his accomplices.
Osama also revealed that he and his associates set up illegal checkpoints in and around the People’s Bazaar to harass and intimidate civilians.
