Current efforts for the release of abducted individuals

Islamabad:

Government security forces and efforts are underway to guarantee the release of individuals kidnapped by Khwarjis to Lakki Marwat, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

According to security sources, Khwarjis had removed workers associated with a mining project in the Kabul Khel region in Lakki Marwat on January 9. The workers were on the way to work when the terrorists had intercepted their vehicle and removed them.

The Tehreek-E-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) then published a video of kidnapped individuals, demanding that the government responds to its terms.

However, to try to increase the pressure on the government, the Khwarjis have killed one of the hostages. They then forced another hostage to record a video wrongly saying that the victim had been killed in an air strike.

On January 25, the terrorists gave the body of the victim and another hostage to the former Kabul Khel tribe and falsely claimed that death had resulted from the air strike of the security forces. However, the complaint was completely baseless and a clear defamation act.

A quick search operation by the security forces then managed to save eight of the 16 hostages while the other people are still in the custody of the Khwarjis. Efforts are underway to ensure their safe release.
