Rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue in certain parts of Pakistan, as the humid currents of the Sea of ​​Oman and the Bay of Bengal interact with a West wave in the upper regions of the country, the meteorological department of Pakistan (PMD) said on Thursday.

According to the PMD, the rain / Thundershowers wind is likely to affect the superior and southern Punjab, the Potohar region, southeast Sindh, northeast and southern Balutchistan, cashmere and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In the capital, partially cloudy conditions with rain / thunders wings are expected on Thursday and Friday, with a probability of 40% on two days.

Strong precipitation is possible in isolated places of superior punjab and the south of the Baloutchandise on Thursday. Friday, the heaviest showers are expected to go to cashmere and southern Balutchistan, the agency said.

In the Sindh, mainly hot and humid weather conditions are provided for most districts, although Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mithi, Thista, Badin, Bloodhar and Mirpurkhas can feel dispersed rains and thunderstorms. Karachi and other coastal areas can also receive light rains on Thursday and Friday.

Monsoon alert issued

In a press release published on July 2, PMD had warned that the monsoon activity would intensify from the evening of July 5, a wave from the West which should approach the upper parts of the country by July 6.

According to the opinion, the heavy to very strong rains are likely to cause sudden floods in local rivers and the draws in Murrier, Galliyat, Manshra, Abbottabad, Dir, Swat and Kohistan, as well as certain parts of Islamabad, Rawalpindi and North East of Punjab from July 5 to 8.

The PMD also warned of urban floods in the low areas of Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Siackot, Sargodha, Nowshera and Peshawar between July 6 and 8, while landslides and mud shifts are possible in the hilly regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The ministry has advised farmers, travelers and local authorities to remain vigilant and take preventive measures, adding that low structures and display panels could also be vulnerable to damage during strong winds and heavy rain.
