- Vietnam confirms that Cyberattack on the National Credit Data Center is underway
- CIC claims that systems are still operational despite the intrusion of hackers into the creditors’ database
- The authorities suspect that the Hunters Shiny group is behind the system violation
The National Credit Information Center (CIC) of Vietnam, which operates under the State Bank of Vietnam, confirmed a cyber attack that could have exposed information on sensitive creditors.
According to PK Press ClubThe scope of the violation remains clear for the moment.
Investigators said in a statement: “The initial survey said that unauthorized signs of access aimed to steal personal data, the extent of the violation still evaluated.”

The Cybersecurity Emergency Intervention Center of Vietnam (Vncert) said it had received a CIC report on the incident on September 11.
“The incident has not disrupted operations or caused damage, and the credit information services system remains fully functional,” said CIC in a letter sent to financial institutions.
The letter, which PK Press Club says that she saw, also suggested that the attack could have been carried out by brilliant hunters, a hacking group known to have violated large companies, notably Google, Microsoft and Qantas.
The Vietnam Cybersecurity Department and the prevention of high -tech crime would have ordered Vncert to work with CIC, the Central Bank and the main cybersecurity companies such as Viettel, VNPT and NCS.
Evidence is currently collected and technical guarantees have been activated to protect national financial data systems.
Vncert has also warned individuals and organizations not to download or distribute disclosed data, stressing that any violation will face severe legal impact.
The Vietnam State Bank did not comment on the violation, while the investment bank JPMorgan declared in a note to investors that the incident could increase cybersecurity costs for local banks, although it did not expect an immediate impact on deposit flows.
Cybersecurity expert Ngô Minh Hiếu declared in an article on META that banks like CIC do not store credit card numbers, punctual passwords or connection details, which means that key financial data, such as transactions and credit card information, will not be affected or compromises.
Vietnam authorities continue to monitor the situation while they work to determine the extent of the attack.
