Dali unveiled the most powerful subwoofer he has ever built, with up to 2,500 W of advanced power thanks to his class D amp. It has the strongest magnet ever connected to a DALI speaker, according to the company, and it is specially designed for home entertainment systems of the audiophiles.
Although this particular model is a submarine with a price to correspond, Dali hinted when it was launched that the technology and design presented here could make their way in smaller and cheaper (relatively speaking) options in the future.
Power and precision
According to Dali, while the new V-16 F is capable of filling the biggest parts with narcotic levels of bass, it has “all the precision and control necessary to work in any audio context and even in small parts … in simple terms, the V-16 F is the most powerful and least compromised subwoofer that we have ever built.”
The driver of the V-16 F was created to defeat what Dali calls “the main enemies of precise reproduction of the bass”: distortion and compression. The V-16 F is designed to minimize the losses of these two things, and Dali says that its capacity “to accelerate huge volumes of air to transform electrical signals into a tangible, palpable and filling rooms is absolutely unprecedented”.
The driver is a 16 -inch unit (406 mm) with the largest surface surround diaphragm design that is always constant to date, fueled by a 1500W class D amplifier (2500W PEAK). The constant surface frame, CSS for short-circuit, is different from the surroundings of the usual driver: it uses positive and alternate negative regions of the sewn and curved sections to maintain the identical surface, to reduce distortion and remove the resonance. Dali said it is the only use of this technology in a subwoofer to date, although it has been used in other types of speakers.
There are four reflex ports of continuous lighting rockets on a very low 18 Hz, and their work is to reduce the need for low -frequency driver’s driver to reduce distortion. They also mean that the driver spends more time near the rest position, where his damping and driving force are more linear; Dali explains that this means more coherent and precise low frequency performance through volume levels.
They are open by default, but the V-16F is supplied with optional port caps if this is better for your listening space or your preferences.
