Dan Marino remains positive on dolphins 0-2 start of assistance

It can be sunny in Miami, but there is a cloud suspended above the 2025 dolphin season after a 0-2 start.

A team legend, however, does not yet strike the panic button.

Dan Marino, the quarter of the reproductive temple of professional football, looked closely at his former team. The dolphins seemed much better during the week 2 than they did during the defeat of week 1 against the Indianapolis colts, but the New England Patriots have always escaped a victory in Miami’s home opening.

Marino, who played 17 NFL seasons, knows that many things could happen over the next 15 games.

“I think that if you ask each team player, and they are all pros and coaches too, they would all be disappointed because they are 0-2,” Marino told PK Press Club Digital while highlighting her personal health battle with Mash, a serious liver disease. “But again, I spoke earlier, you have to be positive.”

Mike McDaniel of Dolphins offers a confusing quote on victory while Banner calls for his dismissal

The story of 0-2 departures does not promote Miami. In the past five seasons, 42 teams have opened 0-2, and only five have continued to make the playoffs – a success rate of just under 12%.

The dolphins reached the playoffs in 2022 and 2023 but slipped to 8-9 last year. Now, the burden is on head coach Mike McDaniel to revive Miami’s offensive, who seemed clearer during week 2 during the opening.

However, the questions persist on the duration of the franchise with McDaniel, especially after a panel was seen at the hard rock stadium asking him for his shot. Marino, however, expressed his confidence in the coach’s ability to stabilize the ship.

“I think it’s a group effort, of course. Mike is a brilliant offensive spirit. He has proven it,” said Marino. “Yesterday (Sunday), it’s just at the end, like all the NFL matches, comes down to the fourth quarter. Almost all are like that, and you have to play the four quarters. We did it and we had the chance to win.

“The dolphins, if (de’von) Achane did not come out of the limits, I really have the impression that we would have won this match. It happened, there are some mistakes, and the next thing you know that you lose the match. This is why it is so critical to play football without error. But Mike is a very good football coach.”

In the NFL, the word “emergency” often only offers 17 games to decide on the post-season chances. Marino thinks that the urgency does not concern a 0-2 file – it should exist every week.

“If you play in the NFL and you are a real pro, these NFL guys are, you must have a feeling of emergency every week, it doesn’t matter if it’s the first week or the 15th week or the seventh week-anything,” he said. “They have it. They understand that there is a possibility that you can make a sequence of victories and that you can be in a sequence of defeats. You just have to find a way to be positive and work through this thing.”

Dolphins are faced with a short turnaround while they are preparing for their Buffalo Rivales of AFC East bills, which are 2-0 to start the season. Marino recalled the defeat of 30-27 in Miami in Buffalo last year, a match that showed that the Dolphins could go out with one of the best in the league.

This week, says Marino, brings another opportunity. And for him, the only way to follow is optimism.

“The dolphins have another match to play Thursday evening in Buffalo. Last year, they played them really up there and almost won the match. So, that’s it for us. 0-2 is something you can come back. This is not the worst thing in the world, so I would say that is it. You have to be positive,” he said.
