Dandan season 3 has officially entered production, which is great news for one of the best anime shows.
Dandan follows two high school students, Momo and Okarun, navigating friendship and just an occasional dose of aliens, ghosts, and superpowers, all wrapped in eye-catching animation and thrilling action scenes. And there’s plenty more where that comes from as we head into Season 3.
Here’s everything we know so far Dandan season 3 from expected release date, cast, trailer, plot rumors, news and more.

Dandan season 3 has officially entered production, thanks to confirmation from the show’s official Twitter/X account on September 18, 2025 (featured above).
Published in Japanese, this roughly translates to: “Season 3 production confirmed. Momo, Okarun and Turbo Granny, let’s celebrate!”
Season 1 premiered in October 2024, Season 2 in July 2025, so for Season 3, I predict a release date of mid to late 2026. But as soon as we know more, we’ll be sure to update here.
Dandadan season 3: has a trailer been released?
Unfortunately, there is no trailer for Dandan season 3 and that will likely be because the series didn’t return to production until September 2025.
Upstream of Dandan season 2, several trailers have been released on Crunchyroll and Netflix Anime’s YouTube Channels. Despite releasing in July 2025, trailers began as early as December 2024 and led up to its eventual premiere.
So, early 2026 seems more likely for some sort of Season 3 trailer, but we’ll drop all official trailers here as soon as they arrive.
Dandadan season 3: planned casting
There has been no official news on Dandan The cast for season 3 has yet to be revealed, aside from the season 3 production announcement referencing Momo, Okarun, and Turbo Granny, but I predict the following characters will return:
- Shion Wakayama as Momo Ayase
- Natsuki Hanae as Ken ‘Okarun; Takakura
- Mayumi Tanaka as Turbo Granny
- Nana Mizuki as Seiko Ayase
- Kaito Ishikawa as Jin Jiji Enjoji
- Ayane Sakura as Aira Shiratori
Alongside the Japanese voice actors, I imagine the English dubs will also reprise their roles after voicing the characters in every episode so far. These include Abby Trott as Momo, AJ Beckles as Okarun, Barbara Goodson as Turbo Granny, Kari Wahlgren as Seiko, Aleks Le as Jiji and Lisa Reimold as Aira.
Dandadan season 3: story synopsis and rumors
Full spoilers for Dandan seasons 1 and 2 to follow.
There is no official news on what Dandan Season 3’s plot will involve, but I imagine it will bring more of the youkai and alien battles enjoyed in the previous two seasons to the forefront.
If you haven’t watched yet, the series follows high school students, Momo and Okarun, as they build an unusual friendship based on quite different points of view. Momo believes in youkai, supernatural entities, that her grandmother Seiko taught her, but not in aliens. Okarun, on the other hand, believes in aliens, but not in youkai.
It quickly becomes clear that they are both right…and wrong, as aliens and youkai begin to intertwine in their lives. Momo received latent psychic abilities from the aliens and Okarun possessed by a youkai called Turbo Granny, a frightening-looking elderly woman who is then forced to inhabit a maneki-neko doll.
In true manga fashion, it’s an extremely dynamic and incredibly zany story that found Momo and Okarun mixing with other high school classmates to embark on weird and wonderful missions. And through it all, youkai and aliens continue to invade their lives. Add in a little romantic tension between Momo and Okarun and you have a complete and hearty story.
Considering that it follows the famous Yukinobu Tatsu series, of which new chapters are still being released, there is a lot to live up to. And if you’re a fan of the manga, you might have a good idea of โโwhere Dandan season 3 will follow.
Without revealing too much, Dandan is divided into several story arcs, of which Turbo Granny, Acrobatic Silky, and Serpo were all explored in Season 1. In Season 2, Cursed House, Evil Eye, and Kaiju then followed.
For Dandan In Season 3, I predict that the Space Globalists, Onbusuman, and Danmara arcs will be covered next, which will introduce new characters, including a dangerous youkai called Reiko Kashima, a mysterious new teacher, Sanjome, and a possessed young man called Unji Zuma. But if you don’t read the manga in advance, we will leave the entire plot a secret.
Will there be more seasons of Dandadan?
Given that Dandan season 3 was renewed alongside the season 2 finale, so I guess we’ll have to wait a little longer to find out if a season 4 is planned.
Ifand it’s big if, as there has been no official confirmation that the plot of season 3 follows the story arcs as suggested above, there are still a few more arcs that could form a season 4 and beyond.
As of now, there is no official news about the upcoming seasons of Dandan. But, as one of the best anime shows on Netflix, it makes most-watched lists and brings in millions of views (according to Collider), it seems very likely that season 3 will not be the last in the story of Momo and Okarun. But we’ll have to wait and see.
