Medvedev was furious by the decision of the referee of President Greg Allensworth to award her opponent a first service after a photographer entered the court on the match point. Allesworth told the photographer to leave the field and that Bonzi would get another first service due to the delay. Medvedev was in arms on the decision.
“He wants to go home, guys. He doesn’t like to be here. He is paid by the match, not on time,” he was heard on the microphones saying to the referee of the chair.
Medvedev said he was upset by the decision and did not think that the interruption of the photographer was long enough to justify the restart of the point. A spokesperson for the US Tennis Association said that the photographer had been escorted by the court by American open safety and that his diploma had been revoked.

“I was not angry with the photographer. I was angry with the decision,” said Medvedev. “The photographer’s delay was probably four and a half seconds. I’m not sure that it is enough for a (first) to serve.”
MedveDev also referred to the previous criticism of Reilly Opelka of the referee in his tirade. He kisses fans and encouraged noisy hoots.
Bonzi suggested that Medvedev’s behavior crossed the line.
“I mean, the rule is the rule. The guy went to the field between two services,” said Bonzi. “I mean, this is not my call to say the first service. And I think, yes, Daniil started, and he put oil on the fire.”
