Dar arrives in Djeddah with Palestine on the agenda

After a historic visit to Bangladesh, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ishaq Dar arrived in Djeddah on Monday to participate in the 21st extraordinary session of the Islamic Cooperation Organization (OCI) to foreign ministers.

Foreign Ministers and senior officials of the Member States must meet to examine the issue of the Israel Assault on Gaza.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs detailed the agenda – “to deliberate on the coordinated responses to climbing developments in Palestine, resulting from the current Israeli military assault, plans for complete military control over Gaza and flagrant violations of Palestinian rights”.

DAR arrived at King International Airport Abdulaziz Jeddah and was received by the Permanent Representative of Pakistan at the OIC Ambassador, Fawad Sher, Pakistan ambassador to Saudi Arabia Ahmad Faroo and Pakistan Consul General in Jeddah Khalid Majid.

According to FO, DAR plans to reaffirm Pakistan’s support for the Palestinian cause and to call for the withdrawal of all Israeli troops in Gaza at the IOC meeting.

The position of Pakistan remains unshakable, “reject the scandalous Israeli plan to extend complete military control over Gaza and further emphasize the urgent need for unhindered humanitarian assistance; and calls for the restoration of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people ”.

Pakistan has always expressed its support for a ceasefire. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had welcomed the adoption of a resolution by the United Nations Security Council to demand an immediate cease-fire in Gaza. The Ambassador Asim Iftikar Ahmad, the permanent representative of Pakistan to the UN, addressed to the General Assembly on June 17. He expressed his disappointment as a demanding resolution that an immediate cease-fire was opposed to the CNUS.

DAR plans to hold bilateral talks on the sidelines with the member states of the key OIC during his two -day stay in Djeddah on August 25 and 26.

Gaza City in ruins

The extraordinary meeting of the OCO arrives at a critical moment while Israeli troops continue their offensive in the eastern and northern outskirts of Gaza. The Israeli army made a statement on Sunday, announcing that their troops return to Jabalia with the intention of new expansion in additional areas.

Gaza’s aggravation situation is looming in the OIC meeting, because the integrated classification of the food security phase declares Gaza a level 5 describes as a “catastrophic hunger”, declaring that a quarter of all the Palestinians of Gaza are hungry. According to the Gazan Ministry of Health, deaths caused by famine and malnutrition are now 289, 115 of whom are children.

The Israel Plan for Gaza City membership

On August 8, the Israeli government published a five -point plan “to defeat Hamas” and “conclude the war”. This plan approved by the Israeli security firm offers a plan to take control of Gaza City. “Israeli defense forces (FDI) will prepare to take control of Gaza City while providing humanitarian aid to the civilian population outside of combat areas,” said the Israeli army.

According to Israeli media, the plan will initially focus on the total control of Gaza City, ousking its million residents further south. TSAhal plans to take control of the refugee camps located in the center of Gaza and areas suspected of accommodating hostages.

Islamabad reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the Palestinian cause and fully rejects Israel’s plan to occupy Gaza.

The plan was faced with widespread criticism from various world leaders. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer was cited as declaring: “This action will do nothing to end this conflict or to help guarantee the release of the hostages. He will no longer bring blood effutes ”.

Countries like Australia, Finland and Turkey have all opposed the plan.

What is the OIC?

The Islamic Cooperation Organization (OCI) was created in 1969 composed of 47 Member States on four continents. It is the second largest world organization, second in the United Nations. The OIC works to create a singular voice for the Islamic world. The OIC had written a resolution asking for the immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza earlier this month, which was opposed to the United Nations Security Council.

The OIC recognizes the current genocide in Gaza and holds the Israeli state responsible for the humanitarian disaster which takes place there.

According to the official press release, the OCO requires “the complete complete cessation of the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip, and the end of current violations committed by occupying forces against civilians and civil infrastructure in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and Eastern Jerusalem”.
