Dar-foreign minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, ISHAQ DAR on Wednesday called on the United Nations Security Council (USC) on Wednesday to urgently pursue an immediate, permanent and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territory.
He was addressed to the open debate of the CSNU on the Middle East, including the Palestinian question, where he warned that what the world has witnessed in the last nine months “is not only a humanitarian disaster, but a collapse of humanity itself”.
“Gaza has become a cemetery for an innocent life as well as for international law-in particular international humanitarian law,” he said. “More than 58,000 Palestinians – including most women and children – were killed in the brutal military assault on Israel,” he added.
DAR highlighted the worsening of the food crisis in the besieged enclave, citing UN characters who show that a third of the Gaza population spends several days without eating – an indicator of catastrophic levels of food insecurity.

Calling the Palestinian question a “decisive test” for the credibility of the United Nations and the Security Council, he warned that not to maintain the rights of the Palestinian people would encourage impunity and weaken the legitimacy of the international order.
DAR reaffirmed the support of the principles of Pakistan to the Palestinian cause, reiterating the call of Islamabad to the establishment of a viable, sovereign and contiguous Palestinian state along the fronts of 1967, with al-Quds al-Sharif as capital. This, he said, remains the only fair and lasting solution approved by the Security Council and the resolutions of the General Assembly, the Arab Peace Initiative and the consensual position of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
