DC Studio Co-CEO Reveals Jason Momoa’s Reaction to Lobo Casting

Following the Supergirl In the first trailer, fans got a glimpse of the motorcycle-riding galactic bounty hunter, Lobo.

The character, who is one of several new characters making their on-screen debut, is set to be played by Jason Momoa.

Momoa is not new to DC Studio films, he played the role of Aquaman in the previous era of DC heroes.

However, in an interview with Weekly Entertainment has Supergirl trailer preview event, studio co-CEO Peter Safran spoke about Momoa’s interest in Lobo.

“He’s been talking about it forever,” Safran said. “He talked about it when he Aquaman with me. He said, ‘I’d rather do Lobo.’

Sharing her excitement about landing her dream role, Safran said, “When the day was announced that we got this job, [leading DC]he texted us both in all caps, “LOBO,” with 10 exclamation points. That was it…and a few Xs.”

Alongside Momoa, Supergirl star Milly Alcock plays the lead role of Kara Zor-El.

In the film, she meets a young alien girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll (Eve Ridley), who asks Kara to help her get revenge on those who killed her family.

The rest of the cast includes Matthias Schoenaerts as villain Krem of the Yellow Hills, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Supergirl’s father, and Emily Beecham as her mother, Alura In-Ze.

Supergirl is scheduled to be released on June 26, 2026.
