Looks like David Corenswet isn’t done saving the world yet.
Before its autonomous Superman fully takes off, the actor is already back in action – appearing in the new trailer for Supergirl: the woman of tomorrow.
Yes, the cape stays in place.
The March 31 trailer gives fans a quick but revealing moment: Superman check on his cousin, Kara Zor-El, played by Milly Alcock.
“You won’t find your rhythm here if you keep leaving the world all the time, Kara. I’m afraid you won’t find your people,” he told her.
His response? Not exactly hopeful.
“Well that’s the problem Clark, I don’t have anyone.”
And there you have it, the tone is set.
Directed by Craig Gillespie, the film draws on the emotional divide between the Kryptonian cousins. While Clark had Kansas and a moral compass, Kara…not so much.
“Even though they’re cousins, you feel this dynamic almost between older siblings and it can be contradictory sometimes,” Gillespie explained. “He’s a nice guy…and she needs to find a way and find herself.”
Plot-wise, expect chaos. Kara goes on a three-day mission to save her superdog Krypto after he is poisoned by Krem of the Yellow Hills (played by Matthias Schoenaerts).
Oh, and Jason Momoa appears – but not as Aquaman. This time it’s wild card bounty hunter Lobo.
If Alcock looks familiar, it’s because she broke Dragon House. Now she’s officially the new one Supergirl – reprising a role previously held by Melissa Benoist and Sasha Calle.
Mark June 26. DC may have just found its next big hero.
