Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Irfan Siddiqui died in Islamabad on Monday after battling illness for the past two weeks, PK Press Club News reported.
Siddiqui was being treated at a private hospital in the federal capital, where his condition deteriorated before his death.
He served as parliamentary leader of the PML-N in the Senate and was known as one of the closest aides of party President Nawaz Sharif.
The veteran lawmaker was also a member of the Business Advisory, Human Rights, Information and Broadcasting, Domestic Control and Narcotics Advisory Committees, as well as the National Health, Regulatory and Coordination Services.
The PML-N MP was also a columnist for Daily jang.
