- New legislation could deeply prohibit government devices
- Deepseek represents a threat to American national security, say the experts
- The American navy and NASA have already prohibited the application
The AI application of Deepseek, which recently sent waves to the world AI market by offering a apparently more powerful model developed at a cost relatively lower than its competitors, should be prohibited from American government devices, said legislators .
Two members of the congress seek to introduce a bipartite bill to prohibit the application of government devices because it constitutes a national security threat to the United States.
The bill, presented by American representatives Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) and Darin Lahood (R-IL), is entitled “No Deepseek on Government Devices Act”.
Protect us the AI market by prohibiting Deepseek
The two representatives are both senior members of the Selective Committee of the House of Information, the bill being presented after the Deepseek application was qualified as a threat to AI actions, with recent research by Feroot Securit Control of the Chinese Communist Party (CCC).
“Our personal information is sent to China, there is no denial, and the Deepseek tool collects everything that American users connect,” said Feroot analyst Ivan Tsarynny Wsj.
Certain prohibitions have already been introduced, the State of Texas already prohibiting the application of government devices, and the US Navy and NASA prohibiting the application of their used devices. If the bill is adopted, the United States would follow the traces of countries such as Australia, Italy and South Korea which have already introduced similar legislation.
“We simply cannot risk that the CCP has infiltrated the devices of our government representatives and compromising our national security,” said Gottheimer. Lahood has echoed these feelings, declaring: “this bipartite and common sense legislation will prohibit the application of federal workers’ telephones while closing the stolen door operations that the company seeks to exploit for access.”
“It is essential that the congress saves the data of the Americans and continues to ensure American leadership in AI,” said the Hood.
