It seemed like a wild dream that Deion Sanders could eventually become the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, but something seemed to click Monday night.
Sanders and Cowboys team owner Jerry Jones have discussed the possibility of Coach Prime moving from the collegiate ranks to the NFL, FOX Sports reported, citing multiple sources. Talks are expected to continue as Dallas begins its search for a new head coach.

The NFL Network reported that Sanders had “some interest” in the Cowboys job, and that Dallas also had “some interest” in possibly bringing him in.
“Hearing Jerry Jones is really delightful and intriguing,” Sanders later told ESPN. “I love Jerry and I believe in Jerry. After hanging up and thinking and thinking, it’s intriguing. But I love Boulder and everything about our team, the coaches, our student body and the community.”
Sanders has long resisted the idea of leaving the Colorado Buffaloes for the NFL. However, he recently issued an ultimatum about whether he would take a job in the NFL – if he had the chance to coach his sons.
It could be difficult for the Cowboys to select quarterback Shedeur Sanders in the first round. Sanders should be one of the first players taken off the board. Dallas has the No. 12 pick in the draft and should make a major move to move up the ranks. The Cowboys could potentially take Shilo Sanders later in the draft.

Deion Sanders played for the Cowboys from 1995 to 1999. He participated in the organization’s last Super Bowl, in 1995. He was a Pro Bowler for four of those five seasons.
The Cowboys parted ways with Mike McCarthy earlier Monday after five seasons.
“Throughout Mike McCarthy’s tenure here, including these past few weeks, I have been very complimentary of the work he has done,” Jones said in a statement. “This applies to our record over this period, to the unity and culture of our team, to Mike’s qualifications and successes, and on a personal level as a great human being.

“I have great respect for Mike and he has led the team through some unique and difficult times during his tenure.”
