David Lynch, an emblematic filmmaker, recently died, and Denis Villeneuve remembers him with brilliant words.
During the Saturn Awards, the Canadian filmmaker highlighted the impact of the deceased director, who also adapted to Dune.
“Cinema is probably the closest art form, closest to dreams, awake dreams. And David Lynch was definitively the master, the one who brought us closer to this dream state. And I sincerely wish that I had the chance to meet him, “he started.
“It would not have been possible to meet him between the two [Dune] movies. I wanted and dreamed of meeting him once it would be finished just to pay tribute to him, “continued the director.
“I am very sad that he did not have a great experience with his own adaptation. At the same time, of my understanding, the pain he endured during the creation of his own version of Dune brought us from the Blue velvet, then Wild at Heart and all … There was an energy that came out, “added the 57 -year -old player.
“So, I don’t know, it’s very deeply sad that he left us. It is like, you know, there are filmmakers that when he left, it’s as if a planet had left the Solar system.
“But there is a certain comfort knowing that he was always completely alive, totally creative, that he wanted to do another project. He is still there. Anyway, I am a big fan. Yes” , concluded Denis.
Smoking for life, David received an emphysema diagnosis, a pulmonary disease in 2024. He died on January 15. He was 78 years old.
