Los Angeles Chargers Second Denzel Perryman was released from prison on Monday after law enforcement officials in California said they had discovered five firearms in his car during a traffic stop.
Perryman, 32, was arrested by Los Angeles sheriff deputies Friday evening, after several weapons were found in his possession, including two “Assaut style rifles”.

“On August 1, 2025, at 9:30 p.m., the deputies of the South Los Angeles station made a traffic stop on the Los Angeles Chargers football player, Denzel Perryman, 32, for violations of the vehicle code,” said the Sheriff department in a statement.

“During the traffic stop, the deputies discovered five firearms in Mr. Perryman’s vehicle, two of which were assault rifles.”

The office of the County Prosecutor of Los Angeles did not immediately respond to a request for comments, but a later declaration of the Bureau of the District of the County of Los Angeles, Nathan Hochman, said that a decision to charge Perryman had not been made.
“Our office is aware of erroneous information circulating in several reports concerning the status of the Denzel Perryman affair resulting from an arrest on Friday, August 1, 2025. Unlike certain media reports, no decision was made to refuse accusations or renounce proceedings,” the statement said.

“The case was examined by the prosecutors for having filed a consideration and, on August 4, it was referred to the police for a more in -depth investigation. To date, the case remains under active investigation. Once this process is completed, the police may submit to that all cases are deepened and examined on the evidence.”
Perryman was drafted by the loads in 2015 and played for the team until 2020. He was in his second visit with the team after having signed a one year contract in 2024 and signed with the charges again.
He also had relays with the Houston Texans and Las Vegas raiders.
