Cade Cunningham collected 33 points and 12 rebounds, Dennis Schroder went around 3 points with 55 seconds to play, and the Pistons de Detroit broke their sequence of losses of 15 games of NBA, 15 games from their series of series of eliminations.
The Pistons, which have not even been in the playoffs since 2019, recovered after the Knicks have erased a deficit of 15 points to win their first victory in the playoff series since match 4 of the final of the 2008 Eastern Conference against Boston. The Celtics won the last two games in this series and the pistons were then swept away in 2009, 2006 and 2019 before dropping match 1 at Madison Square Garden.
Now they are back in the column of victories, all tied in the series and will welcome match 3 Thursday evening.
Schroder, who was not even on the pistons before an exchange in February, nailed the 3 points after the Knicks used a 16-4 race to attach it to 94 on the Dunk of Josh Hart. He finished with 20 points on the bench.
The pistons designed one of the greatest reversals in the history of the NBA this season, which was going 44-38 after a season of 14 victories in 2023-24 which included a sequence of 28 consecutive defeats, the longest of all time in a single season.
They were then in good shape to win the match 1 with an eight-point lead after three quarters, before the Knicks used a 21-0 race in fourth to win 123-112. Detroit built another eight -point advantage after three on Mondays, and this time made the big games after another Knicks rally.
Jalen Brunson scored 37 points for Knicks No. 3, but Karl-Anthony Towns and Og Anunoby were each limited to 10 after finishing with 23 points in the first match.
Cunningham rebounded with a strong performance after the star guard had only 8 for 21 in match 1. The Knicks had trouble keeping it out of the paint and defending it without a poverty, while the pistons pulled 14 free throws to the two Knicks while building an advance of 55-49 at halftime.
The pistons then held New York to a single basket in the first seven minutes and more in the third quarter. Cunningham and Tobias Harris each had two baskets in an 11-0 race that Paul Reed, playing because the Isaiah Stewart rescue center was out with an inflammation of the right knee, capped with a basket that gave the pistons its biggest lead at 68-53 with 5:02 remaining in the third.
