Madonna’s costume designer Marlene Stewart has recalled the singer’s marriage to Sean Penn.
The Queen of Pop’s longtime costume designer, while talking about the wedding that took place in 1985, said Best magazine: “It was in a house in Malibu. The roads were inaccessible because the press was everywhere.”
Marlene added: “We were planning to do a fitting and take photos. But the police stopped me! I insisted I pass.”
She further added that there were no cell phones, saying, “So you had pagers and I was just trying to call someone. »
According to the costume designer, she “finally” managed to get away with the dress.
“Eventually I succeeded and Herb Ritts [the photographer of Madonna’s ‘True Blue’ album cover] I took a picture of her getting ready in the bathroom, and I was under the dress, pulling up the garter belt!” she recalls.
The couple met on the set of Madonna Material girl music video and married six months later.
Madonna and Sean Penn were married for four years before their separation in 1989.
Their relationship was marked by allegations of domestic violence, public feuds and allegations of infidelity, according to PEOPLE.
