If you want you to enter one of the Caribbean pirates Films or will linger a little longer on the attraction of emblematic Disney, the new experience of Disney World will allow you to do exactly.
The beak and the barrel has all the classic elements of a Disney space – lighting and an immersive theme that attracts you to the right – but you will not get on a boat. Instead, you enter a Caribbean pirates-Autting on the theme and the show for an experience of almost an hour.
Yes, there are thematic arrangements and libations – light bites plus alcoholic and non -alcoholic drinks – but where the beak and barrel really shine in its show elements. Walt Disney Imagineering has packed the space with impressive touches: a folding battle between two ships in a bottle, complex sculptures through walls, floors and ceilings, and perhaps more particularly, a brand new audio-animatronic inspired by the first figures of Disney.
Perched above the bar, on what is probably a hidden track, Rummy The Parrot is the latest creation. It is alive, with an impressive amplitude of motion, especially in the head and the beak, and presents a detailed articulation powered by compact engines and actuators.
Disney’s story with Bird Animatronics dates back to the New York World Fair 1964-1965 and the enchanted Tiki room. Rummm has this heritage in front with much more movements and realism achieving.
Ken Ricci, executive creative director at Walt Disney Imagineering, told us that a large part of the jump with the rami is thanks to smaller electric motors which can now be all wrapped inside birds.
Ricci explained the process as “development begins by determining what functions, the movement we want, to make it look like a bird and wrap it in a shell.”
Rummy is not content to perch – he takes the action, often guiding the actors playing Pirate Crew while they serve the guests. In a particularly frightening moment that combines the space audio of hidden speakers and lighting effects embedded throughout the room, the rami stretched the “minds”.
Without giving too much, the experience takes place as an interactive 45 -minute show. Customers are seated or standing in one of the three themed rooms: a card room filled with complex design details, an animated mess room or more intimate captain’s neighborhoods. I tried the latter, installing myself in a leather chair altered by a fireplace.
It turned out to be the best seat of the house, thanks to the ships in the above bottles. These ships come to life in a miniature battle, pulling cannon balls and artillery on each other. The effects crash and click – sound and light – until a ship finally flows in a little magic of imagination which was completely damaged.
Thus, although the beak and barrel are not a “attraction” in the traditional sense, it is really a flexion of the technical chops and Disney narration. It represents the continuous push of the company to redefine what an attraction can be. Before the launch of the Disney Treasure Cruise ship, for example, Imagineers explained to Techradar how they had designed the haunted manor show to ensure that show elements work, no matter where you stand in space. The beak and cannon follows this same philosophy, because you are not locked up on a track inside.
He also remembers past immersive projects like the Galactic Starcruize now closed or the OGA Cantina still with the Galaxy’s Edge. Even if it is technically a restaurant, it works as an attraction focused on the show. Yes, you have a seat, but you are also encouraged to walk and explore yourself.
When the rami breaks out in Yo ho (the life of a pirate for me) Upon driving and movies, you will want to join me. During my visit, before the official beginnings, I even spotted what looked like Jack Sparrow’s jack floating in the card room.
The Beak and Barrel officially opened on August 29, 2025, in the Adventureland section of Magic Kingdom to Disney World, right next to Caribbean pirates to go up. Reservations are necessary and each visit lasts approximately 45 minutes with food and drinks available for purchase.
I would not be surprised if Disney extends this format more. If you do not plan a trip to Orlando, you can always have your chance: a Salon on the theme of Pirates is already confirmed for the next Disney Destiny ship, which is navigating in November 2025.
