Walt Disney Company said on Tuesday that it would increase the price of its streaming services in the United States, including Disney + and Bundles which include Hulu and Espn Select.
From October 21, the monthly price of a Disney + plan with ads will increase from $ 2 to $ 11.99, and a plan without advertising will cost $ 18.99, $ 3 more than now. The packages combining Disney + with Hulu, ESPN or HBO Max will also become more expensive, according to the Disney website.
Disney regularly increased prices, but the announcement of the last increase took place at an annoying time for the company. There was a tumult on his decision to suspend Jimmy Kimmel’s late evening show on his comments last week on the death of Charlie Kirk, and an online campaign urged people to cancel their Disney +subscriptions.
Mr. Kimmel returned to the air on Tuesday.
This is the fourth consecutive year that Disney has increased its streaming prices since the launch of Disney + in 2019. Other services like Netflix, YouTube TV and the main video of Amazon have also regularly increased prices, as well as the reduction in password sharing.
Disney did not immediately respond to a request for comments outside working hours. The company took Total Hulu control this year after putting an end to a dispute on the amount of additional money that it had to comcast for the service. Disney said in August that he would finish Hulu as an autonomous app and fully integrate it into Disney +.
During the three months which ended in June, the company said that Disney + and Hulu had 183 million subscribers worldwide.
