A basketball player from Division II died after being killed at the head during a party at the swimming pool.
The Henderson Jamarion Brown was killed last week at the age of 23 in an incident that made two other injured, according to the sheriff’s office of the Camp County.

“It is with deep sadness that Henderson State Athletics mourns the death of the Junior Basketball Jamarion Brown Basketball-Basketball,” the university said in an online statement. “‘Jo’ spent only one season in Arkadelphia, but its impact on our campus was deep.”

“No word can express our sadness for the family, friends and teammates of Jamarion,” added head coach Jimmy Elgas. “The impact of Jo was felt not only on the basketball court, but throughout the fabric of the Henderson State University, and we all mourn together. Its loss leaves a huge void on our campus, but Jo will be recalled and honored in our hearts forever.”
KLTV reported that the authorities had responded to a swimming pool party in the Camp County in Texas after several calls reported a shooting. Henderson was found seriously injured, while the others injured underwent shot injuries that were not deadly.

A helicopter arrived at the scene, but Brown was too injured to be transported immediately. He was brought to a neighboring hospital, then transported by plane to another in Tyler, where he was declared dead.

The sheriff’s office of the Camp County arrested Onterrian Jamour Newton, 17, earlier this week as part of the deadly shooting. He faces an accusation of murder and other additional pending charges, the police said.

Brown collected an average of 6.5 points and 3.6 rebounds last season. It was his first year with the Reddies after spending two years at the Southwestern Christian College.
