- Apple Lance DJ with Apple Music alongside the first DJ / hardware software
- Unlike Spotify’s AI DJ, this helps DJs to build and mix sets using Apple Music
- It is added to Apple’s first integration with Djay Pro software in Algiddim
If you read this title and think: “Great! Apple Music finally has an answer to Spotify’s Ai DJ! Come on Apple, vocalize what I listened to after this great break in 2017 and have it broke! It will not be the news you wanted.
No, despite Spotify’s apparent plans to allow you to talk to its AI disc jockey, Apple Music goes in a different direction – and this is the one I approve of all my heart. (In fact, I don’t want to remember this time that I did not get out of bed or eat a meal for three days Spotify, thank you all the same …)
Apple Music launched DJ today with Apple Music. Note the title; You will use Apple Music for become A DJ yourself – or to help you improve your sets and build sets on the way to a concert if you are already a working DJ.
Thank you for being released tonight, Weymouth…
Yes, I now imagine my epic set and my name of DJ – but there is also a generator of DJ names if you want to lose a few minutes to work on your brand.
Be that as it may, Get’s Granular: DJ with Apple Music (launched today on March 25) is an integrated experience with the main hardware and hardware platforms of DJ Alphatheta, Serato, Inmusic’s Engine DJ, Denon DJ, Numark and Rane DJ.
His goal? Allow Apple Music subscribers to build and mix sets directly from the Apple Music catalog, and add to the first integration with the Djay Pro software in Algiddim.
This integration – free for Apple music subscribers – means that budding DJs or experienced pros can access Apple Music easily and intuitively over 100 million songs to create and repeat their sets on one of the above -mentioned software and DJ hardware platforms.
“Apple Music undertakes to support the DJs,” said Stephen Campbell, global dance, electronic and DJ manager at Apple Music. “With this latest integration, we make this commitment even more – by transparently connecting Apple music with the main DJ software and hardware of industry. This innovation brings all the power of Apple music in the creative workflow, which facilitates that DJs to access, play and discover music in real time.”
From today, users can also access a new dedicated DJ with an Apple Music category page, highlighting a series of friendly editorial reading lists. There are also new conservative pages for each DJ and hardware platform software with mixtures or examples of reading lists that can be used as a starting point for practice.
DJ with Apple Music is also based on the success of Apple Music DJ Mixes, a program announced in September 2021 (but available in Apple’s immersive space audio with Dolby Atmos in 2022) to put you in a virtual dance club experience – OH, how I would have liked this during the first locking of London in 2020.
In December, Apple Music also launched Apple Music Club, a live world radio station where primary DJ mixtures are organized to offer fans an endless set, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
You may have guessed that I am not a DJ (my field of expertise is only the dancing part), but I have been a faithful Apple Music subscriber since 2016. If you are DJ, or even if you are slightly-priest, why not consult DJ with Apple Music now? There is a list of platform partners, mixes to sharpen your creative appetite and reading lists to help you start, including titles such as “melodic techno”, “club floor charges”, and “Afro diaspora”.
Again, I am not an expert to mix a smooth set of cold cuts, but at a time when it seems that AI is muscle on our music (and our most appreciated musicians), encourage human contribution and creativity seem a completely positive business.
This certainly adds weight to Apple Music’s candidacy to be the best musical streaming service.
