- Apparent prototype Dji Mini 5 Pro identified and broken by Mountain Biker
- Serial Leaker says that the source of trust reported on August 7, 2025 launch date
- The new ultra-light drone would be delivered with Lidar sensors
Drone enthusiasts are preparing for takeoff: the release of the long -term DJI Mavic 5 Pro could be imminent, according to a series leak.
The replacement of the DJI Mini 4 Pro, which we assess as the best ultra-light drone, should obtain its official launch on August 7, 2025, if the drone blogger in series Jesper Elns is to be believed. Writing to Dronexl, she reports that a (reliable) contact sent her a message sharing the date. He also says that, although he generally prefers to wait more corroboration before publishing a rumor like this, this source has never been false before.
If this is true, the date is only seven weeks – weeks in which we expect new news and rumors on the DJI Mini 5 Pro will take place. We also suspect that we will get more photos of the drone in the wild – like a new captured by a Chinese mountain biker who claims that he simply came across a prototype of the drone in a park.
The image was shared by another serial drone leak, @maurotandoi, and although it is quite poor quality, it seems to show a small folding drone with larger frontal sensors (see below).

This fits well with the first rumors on the mini 5 pro from last year; In December 2024, Jesper Ellens (yes, we said he was a series leak) said he would be delivered with Lidar sensors, as well as bridges.
The LIDAR, which would considerably improve the drone’s obstacle avoidance system, in particular in low light conditions, recently started to appear on high -end DJI drones such as DJI Air 3s and DJI Mavic 4 Pro, so we would not be surprised at all on a next DJI Mini 5 Pro.
Ventilated engines could cause stronger flight performance: higher air speed, better wind resistance and an even longer lifespan.
Other upcoming upgrades?
The upgrades of Lidar and ventilated engines could be sufficient to convince people to switch to the mini 5 pro from a mini 4 pro, but we also heard speculation on a larger 1 inch sensor for the camera (the mini 4 pro has a 1 / 1.3 inch sensor), which could really excite people – especially if DJI maintains the weight of 2500 g.
In the United Kingdom, in the EU and the United States, drones of 250 g and more are subject to more rules, regulations and restrictions, therefore ultra-light models such as DJI mini-plage assume an important role-provided they maintain their total take-off weight under this figure.
Stay listening for more DJI Mini 5 rumors in the coming weeks.
