- The first vacuum of the company’s robot is apparently appointed Dji Romo
- Romo and its mooring station illustrated in the disclosed image
- Rumors claim that it will sweep and clean themselves using the advanced obstacle avoidance
Dji is best known for its drones, cardan and action cameras, but Chinese society has extended to other fields lately. Last year, for example, he surprised electric bikes – and now he seems ready to launch his first robot vacuum cleaner.
We first had an overview of a DJI Cleaner at the end of May, with a disclosed photo of @OSITALV showing a palette of boxes bearing an image of an emptiness and a mooring station and the name “Dji Romo”.
And now a new image seems to show the apparatus in the flesh. Or plastic, at least. The Igor Bogdanov series technology leak displayed a grainy spy of what seems to be the DJI Romo inside its reception station.
And although it offers little information in addition to the photo, we can glean one or two intriguing information regarding image design.

A style design nothing?
The most obvious and striking touch of style is perhaps the fact that the void and the reception station seem to have a transparent exterior case, revealing a large part of the operation and internal rooms. And we believe that the white and gray coloring of non -transparent parts, as well as certain elements of orange accent, is also very elegant and catchy – although of course, it is a subjective question.
Unfortunately, we do not learn much about the capacities, specifications or the potential features of the DJI Romo of this disclosed photo, but the previous speculation suggested that it would boast of both the MOP and the vacuum functions, automatic equipment and powerful avoidance of obstacles.
DJI drones are well known for their excellent dominant talents of obstacles, and more recent versions use both LIDAR vision and technology to identify and navigate around potential dangers even in low light conditions. Romo may well use similar technology to avoid furniture, pets and other obstacles because it cleanses your home.
If the Romo is real and we strongly suspect that this is the case, it could represent the new most exciting addition to the robot’s vacuum market for some time. DJI may feel that this market, which must still be dominated by a single manufacturer, could be ripe for disturbances.
We will bring you more updates to the Romo as we get them, but be sure to consult our best guide aspiraters to see what it could be in competition.
