- The M4 MacBook Air M4 release date could be imminent
- Apple stores are preparing and cutting the stock of the M3 MacBook Air
- The new laptop should make modest improvements
We have heard for months that Apple would launch a new MacBook Air with a M4 chip soon, and now it seems that the date is almost on our doors. If you have thought of buying a MacBook Air, you will want to hold back a little longer.
Indeed, Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman said in his power on the newsletter that Apple stores are preparing for the arrival of the new MacBook Air. Its proof about it? The inventory of the M3 MacBook Air is apparently underway in Apple stores, which means that there will soon be fewer units of the current model available for purchase.
It is generally an infallible sign that Apple is about to launch a new device. After all, what is the interest of the company that maintains high stock levels of a product that will soon be replaced?
It is not the only clue. Gurman says that the Apple marketing, sales and retail teams are being prepared for the M4 MacBook Air Liberation, which should land at some point in March. Gurman’s history is very good, so a launch over the next month seems more and more likely.
Hook a little longer
All this means you should probably not buy a MacBook Air at the moment. If you do, you will end up with an M3 model which will quickly be overwhelmed by the M4 version.
As we have seen from the MacBook Pro and the iPad Pro, the M4 chip should be a decent upgrade compared to the M3, if not a revolution. In terms of performance, we will probably see an increased number of nucleus, a more efficient neural engine and an improved memory bandwidth.
In addition to the new chip, the M4 MacBook Air should not include many other new features. The design will remain almost certainly the same, just like the speakers. And while Apple works on a MacBook Air Oled, it is still a few years before the release.
However, the M4 MacBook Air is sufficient for an upgrade to bother it to be expected. If you can’t wait to pull the trigger on a new MacBook Air, you would be able to hang on a few more weeks.
