The longtime Google Pixel 6A battery saga continues, and Google has now provided details on how the owners of the 2022 handset can claim up to $ 150 (£ 110 / $ 230 to the company – money that could be given to a new phone.
If you are satisfied with this story, Google is deploying a compulsory update for certain 6A Pixel phones which could be in danger of overheating. In recent weeks, there have been several reports on these combinations that take fire, which is obviously something Google does not want to see.
The update “will reduce battery capacity and load performance” according to Google, and will appear as part of Android 16. Only certain Pixel 6A phones are assigned and in danger of overheating, however – Google has not provided too much details on this subject, but you can check if your device will be included via the Google website.
Now 9TO5GOOGLE has revealed some additional details. The owners concerned of Pixel 6A will obtain three options: a free battery replacement for their phone, $ 100 (about £ 75 / $ 155 in cash, or $ 150 (around £ 110 / $ 230 in) in Google Store credit.
How to claim
The battery replacement option probably means that the battery limits set up by Android 16 will be deleted again – although you will have to do without your phone for a few days while Google takes care of the repair work.

If you are outside the United States, $ 100 or $ 150 figures will be converted to local currency.
